Third man convicted of aiding murder of Minneapolis realtor sentenced to life in prison

A man involved in the murder of a Minneapolis realtor in late 2019 was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Wednesday.

Lyndon Wiggins, 37, was convicted of aiding and abetting the premeditated first-degree murder of 28-year-old Monique Baugh on June 2.

Wiggins was also found guilty of aiding and abetting attempted first-degree murder, aiding and abetting kidnapping and aiding and abetting first-degree murder while committing kidnapping.

Baugh was found shot multiple times with her hands bound by duct tape in a north Minneapolis alleyway on New Year’s Eve 2019. She was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Investigators said they believe Baugh’s boyfriend was the intended victim in a dispute over a record deal with a fellow rapper.

Three other defendants have also been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Cedric Berry, a 43-year-old man from Minneapolis; and Berry Davis, a 43-year-old man from Brooklyn Park, were both sentenced to life in prison on July 12, 2021.

Elsa Segura, a 30-year-old woman from Fridley, was sentenced to life in prison on Nov. 9, 2021.

Another woman charged in the connection to the murder, 40-year-old Shante Davis, has not yet begun her trial. She faces charges of aiding an offender as an accomplice after the fact for her involvement.

County Attorney Mike Freeman said in a news release after the final sentencing “To the family, friends and loved ones of the victims, I sincerely hope that Lyndon Wiggins’ sentencing provides some healing for you all, as you have endured unimaginable tragedy,” adding, “As for staff in our office, thank you for your hard work and commitment in pursuing justice.”

Family of Baugh submitted written impact statements to Judge Cahill prior to sentencing, according to the news release. Her mother, Wanda Williams Baugh, spoke on behalf of the family and described the pain and devastation that Monique’s murder brought to many people, including Monique’s two young daughters.
