St. Paul man who had drugs in system during fatal wrong-way crash sentenced to prison
A St. Paul man who was convicted of criminal vehicular homicide earlier this year has learned his fate.
Friday, court records show a Hennepin County judge sentenced 58-year-old Selmon Rogers to over 5 1/2 years (67 months) in the St. Cloud prison. He is also receiving 160 days of credit for time already served.
Earlier this summer, Rogers took a plea deal that allowed a charge of criminal vehicular operation to be dismissed.

As previously reported, State Patrol troopers were called to a crash on Highway 169 just south of the Bred Road overpass, around 2:45 p.m. on January 28, 2021.
At the scene, authorities found a Chevrolet Suburban facing north in the southbound lane and a Volkswagen Jetta facing south in the same lane. The driver of the Suburban was identified as Rogers, whose driving status was suspended.
The driver of the Jetta — identified as 22-year-old Abdi Aden Isack — was taken to a hospital but later died from complications due to the injuries suffered in the crash.
Traffic cameras showed the Suburban crossed through the median of Highway 169 through an opening in the barriers and drove north in the southbound lanes before hitting the Jetta. Two other vehicles drove into the ditch and collided in an effort to avoid the Suburban. Those drivers were also taken to a hospital.
A blood sample from Rogers found metabolites of THC, cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and norfentanyl, a criminal complaint states.
A warrant for Rogers’ arrest was issued in April 2022.
