Minneapolis man sentenced to 22½ years for fatal 2021 gas station shooting

A judge issued a 22½-year sentence last week for a man who pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a man last summer at a north Minneapolis gas station.
Court records show Hennepin County Judge Hilary Caligiuri sentenced 18-year-old Khalil Hassan Shabazz on Thursday. He had pleaded guilty in June to one count of second-degree murder for the Aug. 9, 2021, killing of 36-year-old Telly Tramaine Blair at the Amstar gas station at Broadway and Knox avenues.
Shabazz received credit for 332 days of time served, according to court records.
Charging documents state Shabazz was 17 at the time of the shooting but was ordered to stand trial as an adult.
A criminal complaint states Minneapolis police officers found Blair in a car “bleeding profusely” from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to North Memorial Health Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
