Taste of Minnesota, last held in 2015, to return this summer
A Minnesota-centric festival is coming to downtown Minneapolis this summer after a seven-year absence.
Minneapolis city leaders officially announced Taste of Minnesota’s return on Thursday. The reincarnation of the popular festival will feature music and local food vendors.
Taste of Minnesota was discontinued starting in 2016 because festival general manager Linda Maddox retired. She managed the fair with her late husband, Ron, who created it in 1983.
The festival had been sold and closed before but started up again in Waconia after a short hiatus.
The free event will be held along Nicollet Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets from noon to 8 p.m. July 2-3.
It will feature food and music, with Third Eye Blind headlining the entertainment on July 2 and Uncle Kracker & Big Boi from Outkast headlining July 3.
“This is gonna be something really special,” Frey said, adding it shows that Minneapolis is getting back to “normal,” something he preached earlier Thursday during his State of the City address.
More details are expected to be released over the coming weeks.
