The jury trial for Cody Logan Fohrenkam, the man accused of fatally shooting Minneapolis North High School student Deshaun Hill Jr. last year, is set to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday under Fourth Judicial District Judge Julie Allyn.
According to the court register for the case, the jury trial date has been moved twice already from Oct. 3 to Nov. 7 to Jan. 17.
Last week, Fohrenkam motioned to move the case out of Hennepin County, citing the recent release of the Showtime documentary “Boys in Blue.”
Fohrenkam formally submitted the motion Tuesday morning when court convened for the start of his trial. However, Judge Allyn denied that motion, so the trial will proceed as scheduled nearly a year from the date Hill died.
Fohrenkam could spend up to 40 years behind bars for one count of second-degree murder, with intent but not premeditated.
