Caribou Coffee, chain that began as single Edina shop, celebrates 30 anniversary Wednesday
Wednesday, hundreds of coffee houses across the U.S. will celebrate three decades of a business that began in Edina.
The first Caribou Coffee shop, founded by John and Kim Puckett, opened its doors on Dec. 14, 1992.
30 years later, the chain boasts 325 company-owned U.S. locations, 142 “non-traditional” U.S. locations, and 282 stores in nine additional countries.
“As we look ahead to the next 30 years, we are excited to build upon our shared vision of living life to the fullest and providing guests with the inspiring coffeehouse experience they know and love,” said current Caribou Coffee CEO John Butcher.
On Monday, Caribou locations rolled out a Birthday Cake Latte that will be available for the remainder of the company’s birthday week. The drink is made of espresso, steamed milk, cupcake flavoring, whipped cream and “festive sugar.”
Caribou is inviting people to share their memories of its coffee shops throughout the last 30 years with the hashtag #30YearsOfCaribou on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn.
