Former Gov. Al Quie laid to rest Saturday

Former Governor Al Quie was laid to rest Saturday afternoon at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. There was a public visitation and funeral service, followed by a private burial.

Quie died on Aug. 18 at the age of 99, just one month shy of his 100th birthday.

From 1979 to 1983, Quie served as Minnesota’s 35th governor. He was remembered as someone who worked across the aisle in his work as Governor and as a congressmember.

In lieu of flowers, those who wished to pay their respects were asked to donate to the Prison Fellowship, Presbyterian Homes or the Norway House — all causes that Quie was known to champion.
