Gophers men’s basketball non-conference schedule released

Wednesday, the University of Minnesota men’s basketball program announced its 2022-23 non-conference schedule.

The slate features an exhibition game against St. Olaf on Nov. 2 ahead of the team’s season-opener on Nov. 7 against Western Michigan.

Other Minnesota home games include St. Francis Brooklyn on Nov. 11, DePaul as part of the Gavitt Games on Nov. 14 and Central Michigan on Nov. 18. Also coming to Williams Arena are Mississippi State on Dec. 11, Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 14, Chicago State on Dec. 22 and Alcorn State on Dec. 29.

The Gophers currently have three non-conference road games scheduled: Two games in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., for the SoCal Challenge on Nov. 21 and 23 — the first against California Baptist, the second TBD — and a game at Virginia Tech on Nov. 28 for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Minnesota’s conference schedule will be announced at a later date but the program already knows the opponents.

The upcoming season will be the second under head coach Ben Johnson. This year’s roster features eight newcomers but the team will also be without two key forwards who have already been lost due to injury.
