St. Paul man sentenced to more than 7 years for role in 2021 death of Greenvale Township man
A man convicted of aiding an offender in connection to a Northfield-area homicide last year was sentenced to more than seven years in prison on Thursday.
Timothy William Tuit, 36, was sentenced to 92 months in prison for his role in the death of 55-year-old Chris Jon LaFontaine. Tuit was given credit for 332 days served in jail.
The second count against Tuit, first-degree burglary, was dismissed, according to court records.
Tuit was charged in connection to the death of LaFontaine at his home in Greenvale Township last year.

According to the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, 22-year-old Ryann Elizabeth Smith of White Bear Lake, 29-year-old Nicholas Alan Taylor of St. Paul and 25-year-old Stephanie Marie Peabody of Welch were also charged in LaFontaine’s death.
Tuit and Peabody each pleaded guilty to aiding an offender in December. Taylor pleaded guilty in February to second-degree murder, and Smith pleaded guilty in March to one count of aiding and abetting first-degree assault.
