Trial begins for man charged in 2019 death of Minneapolis realtor

Online court records say a judge is now examining potential jurors as a trial begins for a Hopkins man accused in the 2019 death of a Minneapolis realtor.

Lyndon Wiggins, 37, is charged with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder, one count of first-degree murder with intent while committing a felony, and one count of kidnapping – to commit great bodily harm/terrorize in connection with Monique Baugh’s death.

Wiggins, of Minneapolis, was indicted last May by a Hennepin County grand jury on counts of aiding and abetting premeditated first-degree murder, aiding and abetting attempted premeditated second-degree murder, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and aiding and abetting first-degree felony murder while committing kidnapping.

Elsa Segura of Fridley, now 30, was also indicted on the same charges. She was sentenced to life in prison last November, without the possibility of parole.

Both had previously been charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder and kidnapping in connection to Baugh’s death on New Year’s Eve in 2019 and the attempted murder of her boyfriend.

Court documents say Segura called Baugh to set up a home showing in Maple Grove. That’s where two men—Cedric Berry and Berry Davis—then kidnapped Baugh before shooting her and leaving her body in a Minneapolis alley.

Berry and Davis are also serving life sentences for Baugh’s murder.
