St. Paul woman receives 21-year prison sentence for murdering ex-husband

Court records show a St. Paul woman will spend more than two decades behind bars for murdering her ex-husband.

According to online records, 40-year-old Karina See Her was sentenced Tuesday to 261 months (21.75 years) in the Shakopee Correctional Facility, and will receive credit for the 244 days she has already served.

Documents state See Her was charged in connection to 50-year-old Kou Yang’s death. Police said at the time of charging, she murdered and buried her ex-husband after initially claiming he was missing.

See Her pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with intent, not premeditated last month. She faced a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
