Three people died Friday night in a house fire west of Eau Claire.
According to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews responded to a report of a house fire just after 10 p.m. on the 6800 block of 270th Avenue in Spring Brook Township, Wisconsin.
The sheriff’s office stated there were five people inside the house at the time of the fire: two women, two men and a child.
Both of the women were able to escape with only minor injuries. The men and the child, however, did not survive. They were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Rebecca Miles lives down the street. She called 911 when she looked out her window and saw what was happening.
"I laid down to go to bed. There was a big boom, and I thought people were just lighting off fireworks, so I didn’t think really anything of it. Then my house shook, and so I investigated, and saw the house was completely in flames…It actually makes me emotional, just thinking what if that was my house and my kids. It puts out a lot of feelings that you can’t even put into words," said Miles.
The victims’ names are being withheld pending family notification.
The fire remains under investigation.
