Vikings coordinators preview season opener vs Giants, review training camp success stories
As they prepare for the 2024 season opener at the New York Giants, the Viking coordinators spoke Tuesday at the TCO Center about preparations for the game, and about some of the success stories that came out of this year’s training camp.

Defensive coordinator Brian Flores spoke highly of rookie linemen L.D. Rodriguez and Taki Taimani – and Taimani’s fellow undrafted free agent, cornerback Dwight McGlothern – for the work they put in to earn spots on the 53-man roster.

Wes Phillips discussed the development of the Vikings new offensive backfield with quarterback Sam Darnold and running back Aaron Jones.
Matt Daniels spent a lot of time discussing the impact the NFL’s new kickoff system may have.
“Within the first three weeks, this play will play a major role in wins and losses,” Daniels predicted.
He said Ty Chandler will handle the newly-revamped kick returns, and that Brandon Powell has also take some practice reps with returns.
The Vikings open the season Sunday at noon at the New York Giants.
