We all have favorite recipes from our childhood, Kevin Doran’s mom used to make one that’s quick and easy is Wiener Winks. Dip them in ketchup or mustard and serve them with pickles, fresh veggies and Old Dutch R-ipl chips on the side and you have an economical meal that’s tasty, simple and fun! And perfect for a Monday Night Meal.
Mom told us they’re called wiener winks because the wiener sticking out the end of the bread winks at you every time you take a bite!
Ingredients:
1 (16 ounce) package beef frankfurters
8 slices processed American cheese
8 slices bread
8 teaspoons butter
Directions:
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2
Take 1 slice of bread and spread 1 teaspoon of butter on one side. Turn the bread over on a piece of parchment paper (to avoid sticking) and place a slice of American cheese on the bread. Place a frankfurter diagonally on the cheese. Fold bread corner to corner around the frankfurter. Insert a toothpick to hold together. Repeat steps for the remaining frankfurters.
Step 3
Bake in a preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
