The Minnesota Vikings have hired a new general manager.
KSTP Sports has confirmed after ESPN first reported Wednesday that the Vikings have hired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as their new general manager.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kwesi to the Minnesota Vikings. His unique background, variety of strong football experiences, vision for success and leadership presence immediately stood out to us,” said Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf. “Kwesi is naturally committed and driven to building the best teams through consensus building and the pursuit of information. We believe he will immediately make us better as a team and organization.”
Adofo-Mensah was previously the Cleveland Browns’ Vice President of football operations.
As previously reported, the Vikings had narrowed in on Adofo-Mensah Tuesday after another finalist took a job with the Chicago Bears.
“Kwesi has a clear philosophy on building a complementary football team,” said Vikings Owner/Chairman Zygi Wilf. “His intelligence, progressive mindset and passion for the game, along with his ability to make thoughtful and intentional decisions, provide a tremendous foundation as he leads our football operations.”

The Vikings fired general manager Rick Spielman at the close of a disappointing 2021 regular season that resulted in an 8-9 record and the team missing the playoffs for the third time in four seasons.
Spielman had joined the organization in 2006 and was promoted to general manager in 2012. Over his 10-year stretch as GM, the Vikings accomplished an 87-72-2 record, four playoff appearances and two NFC North championships.
