On this week of Thanksgiving, we all give thanks to the men and women who serve our nation.
On the grounds of the Minnesota Capitol, there’s a unique tribute to all military families.
It’s called the Story Stones, a series of 87 large stones, representing each of Minnesota’s 87 counties.
Correspondence sent between soldiers and family members from the Civil War to today are engraved onto the stones.
Ted Lee, a landscape architect, designed the Story Stones tribute.
"This is the first of its kind in Minnesota and in our country," Lee said. "It’s a tribute, not a memorial. It’s a tribute to the families of our veterans of our state."
The idea for the Story Stones came from a local businessman. The tribute was dedicated in 2016.
