The Great Minnesota Get-Together has a new venue this year: your car.
The Minnesota State Fair announced on Wednesday it will have an alternative drive-thru experience for three weekends in August and September that will allow visitors to get a taste of the fair food they crave.
Here’s how it works: For $20, a vehicle with up to five people inside can gain access to a 1.5-mile route through the fairgrounds that includes 16 food vendors — food sold separately. Tickets go on sale July 31.
The Minnesota State Fair Food Parade runs Thursdays through Sundays, Aug. 20-23, Aug. 27-30 and Sept. 3-6, and Labor Day, Sept. 7.
"This is one way to still get on the fairgrounds and experience some of that food and atmosphere of the fair," Minnesota State Fair spokesperson Danielle Dullinger said. "There’s going to be entertainment, live music, live performances, Gopher mascots, a trivia game, a bingo game, plenty to do more than just eat food. It really is an experience."
