Attorney for Derek Chauvin requests George Floyd trial be moved back
The attorney for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has requested the trial be moved back, recent documents filed in court say.
The trial for the death of George Floyd is scheduled to begin on March 8. Last week, former Minneapolis police officer Tou Thao’s attorney, Robert Paule, asked a judge to move the trial to July, arguing prosecutors disclosed expert witnesses months after the court had ordered.

However, in the recent filing concerning Chauvin, there was no suggested date or reason for the delay.
Former officers Thao, Thomas Lane and J Alexander Kueng are each charged with aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter in the death of Floyd. Chauvin is facing charges consisting of murder and manslaughter in this case.
