On this Memorial Day weekend many Minnesotans are remembering those who served our nation.

A large crowd showed up at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Sunday to pay their respects, bringing flowers and flags.

Janet Grieder of Maple Grove came to see her father, Roy, who served in World War II.

"I just think it's something you do out of respect," Grieder said. "They didn't brag about it (his service). Talk about it. Dad was pretty quiet about it. He didn't say to much."

Some families said a prayer by the graves of their loved ones.
