LIST: Thanksgiving 2021 meals
Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 25. There are a variety of events for those in need in the community.
Here is a list of events over the next several days.
Brooklyn Park (Zanewood Recreation Center) – The city of Brooklyn Park is partnering with the Salvation Army to help families in need with a brown bag of Thanksgiving essentials. Pick up will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 at Zanewood Recreation Center in Brooklyn Park. For more information, click here.
Belle Plaine (Belle Plaine Area Food Shelf) – The Belle Plaine Area Food Shelf is again providing Thanksgiving food boxes for families of three or more people. Families will receive a turkey and all the fixings needed for a healthy and delicious Thanksgiving dinner. If you would like a box, you need to sign up at the Belle Plaine Area Food Shelf on Wednesdays between 5-7 p.m. or Saturdays between 9-11 a.m. Boxes will be available for pick up on Monday, Nov. 22 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 5-6 p.m.
Minneapolis (Groveland Emergency Food Shelf) – Vikings player Justin Jefferson will be distributing meals to families in need through his foundation, JJets Foundation on Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 2-4 p.m. at the Groveland Emergency Food Shelf in Minneapolis. Details here.
Minneapolis (Salvation Army Harbor Light Center) – The Salvation Army will serve its annual Thanksgiving Breakfast to the homeless and families in need on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25 from 5:30-6:30 a.m. Meals will be served at The Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Center at 1010 Currie Avenue in Minneapolis by 2.4 Ministries.
Minneapolis (Faith Deliverance Holiness Church) – A free Thanksgiving community dinner will be served at Faith Deliverance Holiness Church on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25 from 2-5 p.m. at 1119 Morgan Ave. N. in Minneapolis. The meal is served in coordination with StartAnew, Faith Deliverance Holiness Church, Minnehaha Temple #129, RJM and Ames Lodge #106. For more information call 612-389-0008.
Minnetonka (ICA Food Shelf) – ICA will be distributing turkeys and the fixings prior to Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at ICA Food Shelf: 11588 K-Tel Drive, Minnetonka.
Mounds View (Ralph Reeder Food Shelf) – Ralph Reeder Food Shelf, located at 2544 Mounds View Blvd. in Mounds View, is offering a turkey and all the fixings to make a thanksgiving meal for your family, just call the food shelf at 651-621-6280 during the month of November to set up an appointment.
North Minneapolis (Aegis Foundation) – The Aegis Foundation is hosting an event specifically for youth. There will be music, games, free bus tokens, and you can enter to win one of two bikes from Full Cycle Bike Shop. The event goes from 12-5 p.m., and meals will be served from 1-3 p.m. Expect some tasty food, as the executive chef and his team from HCMC will be preparing the meal. It will be held at 105 North 1st St. in Minneapolis.
New Richmond, WI (Immaculate Conception Church) – Immaculate Conception Church at 151 S. Washington Ave. in New Richmond will host their Community Thanksgiving Meal again this year. The menu will consist of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, stuffing, squash, sweet potatoes, cranberries, roll, and pies. St. Paul (Union Gospel Mission) – Nov. 22-23, residents and guests will be served a special holiday dinner on Thanksgiving Day. Those in need are invited to join us for our Thanksgiving dinner. The traditional dinner will include turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and more. The meal will be served at the Men’s Campus at 435 University Ave. E. in St. Paul from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. In addition to Thanksgiving served onsite, they will also be delivering hotboxes of Thanksgiving food to residents in need at high rises in St. Paul. Upsala (Little Falls Chamber of Commerce) – There will be a Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Word of Life Church in Upsala. Enjoy a bountiful meal and fellowship in celebration of Thanksgiving. Located at Word of Life Church in Upsala, 3328 First Ave. W. in Upsala from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
White Bear Lake (White Bear Area Food Shelf) – The Thanksgiving tradition, Give a Gobble, continues in 2021. This year’s food distribution will be held on two days – Monday, Nov. 22 and Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 1-7 p.m. Turkey and all the fixings for a healthy Thanksgiving will be ready when visitors arrive, including the traditional sides, fresh produce, and pie. The event will be held at 1884 Whitaker St. in White Bear Lake.
