The police are asking for the public's help in finding two vehicles after a person died in Maplewood from a hit-and-run crash Saturday night.

According to the Maplewood Police Department, at 8:30 p.m., officers and fire department personnel responded to a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash at the 1200 block of Lakewood Drive North.

Once officers and medics arrived at the scene, they located the struck pedestrian in the roadway and began rendering medical aid. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene, said police.

The vehicle or vehicles were not located at the scene when officers arrived. According to police, the vehicle that struck the victim will likely have heavy front end damage.

A witness reported a second vehicle being driven by a male that may have witnessed the incident and pulled over briefly before leaving the scene. The witness described the vehicle as a black sedan.

Maplewood Police are asking for the public's help in locating both the striking vehicle as well as the witness. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Sgt. Joe Steiner at 651-249-2608 or Joe.Steiner@maplewoodmn.gov.
