Wild D Brodin enters COVID protocols

With the NHL Winter Classic just four days away, the Minnesota Wild had its first player enter COVID-19 protocols on Tuesday.

The team announced defenseman Jonas Brodin won’t practice Tuesday due to COVID protocols.

Minnesota had been the lone team without any coaches or players in COVID-19 protocols amid the recent outbreak across the league, although they did have some players impacted earlier in the season.

The team is also dealing with injuries to defenseman and captain Jared Spurgeon and center Joel Eriksson Ek.

The Wild hasn’t played since Dec. 20 and will face the St. Louis Blues on Saturday at Target Field for the Winter Classic.
