Vikings sign LB Jordan Hicks to 2-year deal

The Minnesota Vikings added a new linebacker to its defense on Tuesday.

KSTP Sports confirmed the team reached an agreement on a two-year deal with linebacker Jordan Hicks.

The deal includes $6.5 million in guaranteed money for Hicks, who has spent the last three years with the Arizona Cardinals after playing his first four seasons with Philadelphia.

Over his seven NFL seasons, Hicks has racked up 591 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 11 interceptions and 34 passes defended. However, he was a standout for Arizona, totaling more than 100 tackles each season, including 140 in 2019.

The University of Texas product has also started 51 consecutive games, the third-longest active streak among linebackers in the NFL, according to the Vikings.

With longtime Vikings standout Anthony Barr a free agent, Hicks figures to fill the void next to Eric Kendricks on defense.

The move comes a day after Minnesota made a series of roster moves, including adding one defensive lineman and cutting another.

NFL free agency officially opens Wednesday afternoon.
