Twins put Garlick on IL, reinstate Celestino
The Minnesota Twins have lost another outfielder due to injury but also reinstated another player.
Thursday, the Twins put Kyle Garlick on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Tuesday.
Garlick suffered a right ribcage contusion after colliding with the left field wall on July 29 in San Diego.
This season, he’s hit .257 with eight home runs, 17 RBI, a .319 on-base percentage and a .833 OPS.
The good news is the club reinstated outfielder Gilberto Celestino from the paternity list. Celestino and his wife welcomed a baby boy this week.
Celestino has hit .270 with nine RBI and a .328 on-base percentage this year.
Additionally, the Twins activated pitcher Tyler Mahle, who was acquired from Cincinnati on Tuesday. To make room for Mahle, relief pitcher Jovani Moran was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul.
