Twins activate pitcher Sonny Gray from IL
For the second consecutive day, the Minnesota Twins have had a starting pitcher return from injury.
Wednesday, the Twins announced that Sonny Gray was reinstated from the 15-day injured list.
Gray has missed the last 16 games due to a right pectoral strain.
This season, Gray is 3-1 with a 2.41 ERA over 33.2 innings with 10 walks, 39 strikeouts and a .187 opponent batting average.
To make room for Gray on the roster, the Twins optioned left-handed pitcher Jovani Moran to Triple-A St. Paul.
Moran made eight relief appearances for Minnesota, posting a 1.74 ERA over 10.1 innings with seven walks, 15 strikeouts, a .167 opponent batting average and 1 save.
The move comes a day after the Twins activated Joe Ryan from the COVID-19 list. Ryan started Tuesday night vs. Seattle.
