State of affairs with St. Thomas men’s, women’s hockey teams

It was a memorable weekend for the University of St. Thomas men’s hockey team. For the first time as a D-1 program, they swept a series. The Tommies won both games vs. Lake Superior St.
KSTP Sports connected with the men’s and women’s Tommies programs on Monday in Mendota Heights.
Men’s head coach Rico Blasi and women’s head coach Joel Johnson spoke.
Blasi discussed the historic weekend and continuing to building momentum as regular the season marches on.
Johnson talked about the women’s team returning from Thanksgiving break and the challenges of playing in the WCHA.

The men are 4-12 this year and play at Bemidji St. next weekend, while the women are 3-11 and have a home-and-home next weekend vs. St. Cloud St.
