Source: Twins have yet to withdraw from Graterol trade, but teams are at impasse
Rumors are swirling that the Minnesota Twins have withdrawn prospect Brusdar Graterol from a three-team trade, but a source with knowledge of the situation tells KSTP that the trade has not fallen apart — rather, it’s on hold.
The original iteration of the complex trade between the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Twins would have involved Minnesota sending Graterol to Boston and receiving starting pitcher Kenta Maeda from Los Angeles.
The holdup has come from the Red Sox’s side. The club raised concerns about Graterol’s medical records — the minor-league pitcher underwent Tommy John surgery in 2015 and missed two months last season due to shoulder issues — and reportedly requested another piece from either the Twins or the Dodgers. Neither team seems ready to oblige.
On the line for the Dodgers are two All-Star pickups from the Red Sox, 2018 American League MVP Mookie Betts and starting pitcher David Price. The Dodgers would send outfielder Alex Verdugo to the Red Sox.
