St Cloud Crush co-head coach Scot Davis is the first high school wrestling coach in the nation to reach 1,200 career wins.
His 43 seasons coaching – including two short-lived retirements – have included a dozen or so stops across the country coaching at schools ranging from from Native American reservations, a Twin Cities suburban behemoth, outstate powerhouses and other stops in North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, South Carolina and Iowa.
Minnesota wrestling fans know Davis from the 25 years he spent making Owatonna a perennial State Tournament contender, but his mark on the national record books was solidified when St Cloud won a pair of matches at a recent triangular against Maple Grove and Osseo that made him the first coach in the country to hit 1,200 wins.
