Q&A: Minnetonka native Bobby Brink reflects on winning gold with Team USA at World Juniors

Former Minnetonka high school star Bobby Brink played for the U.S. World Juniors team that won gold in Edmonton over Canada earlier this month.
Brink, a 2nd round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2019 and a sophomore forward at Denver, finished with six points (two goals, four assists) and a plus-8 mark in seven games for the U.S.
Brink reflected on his run with the U.S. with our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson, via Zoom.

Brink also played for the U.S. in 2020, so he knew what it felt like to not win it all — the U.S. lost in the quarterfinals to Finland.

What made this year’s run even more special for Brink is his bond with fellow Minnesotans and U.S. teammates Drew Helleson (defenseman from Farmington) and Jackson LaCombe (defenseman from Eden Prairie). They grew up playing together.
Brink also noted that his dad, Andy, played for the U.S. World Juniors team in the mid 90s. With his gold medal, Bobby now has bragging rights over dad.
