Lewis placed on 10-day injured list 1 day after being recalled from Triple A

Just one day after the Minnesota Twins announced they had recalled Royce Lewis from the St. Paul Saints, team officials say he has now been placed on the injured list.

According to the team, Lewis has a bone bruise on his right knee, and was removed from the game against the Kansas City Royals in the fourth inning after running into the wall while making a catch.

While Lewis is on the injured list, the team says they have recalled infielder Jose Miranda from St. Paul. Miranda was optioned Sunday in order to make room for Lewis’ return.

Earlier this month, the Twins had sent Lewis to the minors in order to make room for shortstop Carlos Correa, who came off the injured list.

During the 10 games Lewis played for the St. Paul Saints, he played at shortstop, third base, leftfield, centerfield and was also a designated hitter.

Before he was optioned to the Saints, he hit .346 with a 1.063 OPS in seven games from May 6-17.
