Gophers rally to beat Michigan St. 4-2
The Gophers men’s hockey team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Michigan State 4-2 Friday night at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
The Spartans (11-14-1) led 2-0 after the first period but Rhett Pitlick got Minnesota on the scoreboard with his first collegiate goal. Aaron Huglen added another goal for the 8th-ranked Gophers (15-11) in the second period and it was 2-2 heading into the second intermission.
Minnesota would end up with four unanswered goals. Blake McLaughlin scored the eventual game-winner 4:08 into the third period and Tristan Broz added another for the 4-2 victory.
Gophers goalie Justen Close made 21 saves to earn the win.
