KSTP’s Chris Long covering Gophers and Mavericks in Frozen Four in Boston

KSTP sports reporter Chris Long and photojournalist Jeff Brioschi are in Boston for the Frozen Four. The Gophers take on the Mavericks of Minnesota State-Mankato Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Central. Michigan will take on Denver in the other semifinal.
This is the Gophers’ first Frozen Four trip under coach Bob Motzko, and first since 2014.

The field has already claimed 22 NCAA hockey titles, with Minnesota State the only school still in search of its first. Minnesota State goalie Dryden McKay, Minnesota’s Ben Myers and Denver’s Bobby Brink are all finalists for the Hobey Baker Award that goes to the top player in college hockey. The winner will be announced on Friday.
