Gophers’ Ben Meyers signs with Avalanche

Ben Meyers, who played for the Minnesota Gophers men’s hockey team, is heading to Colorado.

The Colorado Avalanche has signed Meyers to a two-year contract through the 2022-23 season, the team announced on Wednesday.

Meyers was named a Big Ten Conference Player of the Year and a Hobey Baker Award finalist.

He was among the most coveted college free agents available and was pursued by many teams, including his hometown Minnesota Wild.
