Full Gophers women’s basketball schedule unveiled

The University of Minnesota women’s basketball program has announced its full 2022-23 schedule.

The slate includes 29 regular-season games, including 17 at Williams Arena.

Minnesota will start with an exhibition game against Wisconsin-River Falls on Oct. 30 before opening the season officially on Nov. 7 at home against Western Illinois. Other nonconference matchups include contests against Lehigh, North Dakota State, Presbyterian, Liberty, Virginia, Kentucky, Chicago State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Eastern Illinois.

Like last year, this season’s conference schedule will start before the full nonconference slate is finished, as the Gophers open Big Ten play at home against Penn State on Dec. 3 before hosting Kentucky on Dec. 7. Minnesota also plays three other nonconference games in December before conference play resumes on Dec. 30 with the Gophers at Maryland. That will be one of eight teams the Gophers will play this season that made last year’s NCAA Tournament.

Other notable games include the Virginia Tournament against Liberty and Virginia in late November, the Big Ten/ACC Challenge with Wake Forest coming to Williams Arena on Dec. 1, a matchup in Wisconsin on Jan. 8 and Wisconsin at Williams Arena on Feb. 11.

The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled to run from March 1 through 5 at Target Center in Minneapolis.

This season will be Minnesota’s fifth with Lindsay Whalen at the helm.
