Johnson was asked multiple questions about 6th-year big man Eric Curry — he scored a career-high 22 points in Saturday’s home win over Penn State. One was about Curry’s future since he technically has another year of eligibility remaining. But Johnson sees this year as being it for Curry as a player. Originally, Curry was to be a graduate assistant for this year’s team. But then changed his mind on playing over the summer.
The Gophers are led by graduate senior Payton Willis and third-year college player Jamison Battle.
Willis has scored in double-figures 19 times this season, including his past 10 games. The senior averages 16.5 points per game this season, a single-season career best.
Battle is just 13 points away from his 1,000th career point, spanning over two and a half seasons of collegiate basketball.
Tip-off Tuesday night in Columbus is set for 7:30 p.m.
