The St. Paul Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Tuesday night.

Officers said in a news release that they responded to a report of a shooting around 5:30 p.m. at the 300 block of Blair Avenue in St. Paul’s Frogtown neighborhood.

Police arrived and found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds outside a residence.

Police said medics took the man to Regions Hospital where he then died from his injuries.

St. Paul Police Officer Natalie Davis said that the shooting happened while multiple people were inside the structure, including children.

Officer Davis also noted that this is the third homicide in St. Paul within the first three weeks of 2022.

According to the St. Paul Fire Department, police officers at the scene also noticed a haze coming from the basement of the home. They then called crews to the home around 7:30 p.m..

Fire officials say they were able to quickly extinguish the flames, which were contained to contents in the basement. The fire is still being investigated.

While no one had been arrested as of Tuesday night, police said late Wednesday morning a 31-year-old had been arrested for the homicide and is being held at the Ramsey County Jail for murder.
