More than 3,000 people vaccinated against COVID-19 at Minnesota State Fair

More than 3,000 people got vaccinated at the COVID-19 Community Vaccination Clinic at the Minnesota State Fair this year, Gov. Tim Walz announced Tuesday.
Within the first five days of the fair, 1,199 people had gotten a shot. In total 3,118 fairgoers got inoculated over the course of the 12 days of the Great Minnesota Get-Together, Walz’s office said. The majority of those people also walked away with a $100 Visa gift card for getting their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The site gave both one-dose Johnson & Johnson and two-dose Pfizer vaccines.
"Thank you to everyone who made this convenient vaccination opportunity for Minnesotans possible," Walz said. "We need every eligible Minnesotan to roll up their sleeves and get their shot so we can have a safe, healthy fall and make our schools safer for students and teachers. Our children who cannot yet get vaccinated are relying on you."
Walz recently announced a series of free COVID-19 vaccine clinics this fall at YMCA centers across the metro area. In addition, anyone looking to get a vaccine can visit the vaccine connector or call the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 public hotline for assistance at 833-431-2053.
