St. Cloud man crashes vehicle in ditch, unknown medical condition thought to be cause of crash

A 33-year-old St. Cloud man crashed his vehicle into a ditch Monday morning in Stearns County.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 9:50 a.m. to a motor vehicle crash with injuries on County Road 4 in St. Wendel Township.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a blue 2017 Ford pickup in the south ditch. The driver was identified as Derek Stevens.

Stevens did not have any visible injuries but was transported to St. Cloud Hospital for an evaluation. Police believe an unknown medical condition played a role in this incident.

Witnesses said they saw the truck moving erratically, coming to a stop in the oncoming lane of traffic before entering the ditch.

Alcohol is not believed to a factor in this incident.
