Travel experts predict it will be a busy weekend out on the roads this Memorial Day holiday weekend.

For those who are heading north, there are a couple of projects to watch for along Highway 61. In Two Harbors, the road will be down to one lane between Central Avenue and County Road 9 until mid-August. In Grand Marais, drivers will encounter a short detour between County Road 7 and Eighth Avenue.

South of the Twin Cities, be prepared for slowdowns along Highway 52 in Cannon Falls. The road is down to one lane from Highway 19 to 280th Street. Plus, there’s a short stretch of single-lane traffic on Interstate 90 near Austin. Crews are doing some bridge work at I-90 and 28th Street.

In better news, there are no lane restrictions along Interstate 35 from the Twin Cities to Duluth. All lanes will be open to drivers using I-35 to head south to the Iowa border as well.
