Walz speaks with business owners along University Avenue about rebuilding neighborhood

Gov. Tim Walz met with business owners along University Avenue in Saint Paul on Monday. 

The area was hit hard by fires and looting after the death of George Floyd. 

"The only thing that really matters at this time is results," Walz said. "The economics can come back, and I keep saying if we can change some of the fundamentals that created this underlying tension, what comes back will be stronger."

Tim Wilson has owned Urban Lights Music on University Avenue for nearly three decades. 

"We're dealing with the new normal coming off COVID," Wilson said. "Now we're dealing with the new normal, which is reopening now after the riots. Everybody is kind of trying to find their way."
