Walz announces endorsements for Minneapolis, St. Paul and Brooklyn Park mayors
Friday, Gov. Tim Walz announced the candidates he’s endorsing for mayor of Minneapolis, St. Paul and Brooklyn Park.
Walz is endorsing current Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, current St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter and Brooklyn Park mayoral candidate Hollies Winston.
"I’m proud to endorse these outstanding mayoral candidates who have spent the last year fighting to get COVID-19 under control, supporting our small businesses, helping to rebuild our economy, and guiding our communities through one of the most difficult periods in Minnesota history," Walz said in a statement. "This past year reminded us just how important our local elected officials are. We would not be seeing record low COVID-19 numbers, rapidly increasing employment numbers, and economic growth throughout the state without the help and hard work of these dedicated public servants."
Last month, Minneapolis DFL city delegates did not endorse a candidate for mayor in their final round of ranked-choice voting.
