Music fans take note: There’s a new venue opening up soon in central Minnesota.
The Ledge Amphitheater in the city of Waite Park will hold an open house on Tuesday before the venue hosts its first concert Friday night.
It’s taken seven years and $12 million for the city to turn a former quarry into a state-of-the-art venue.
"The buildings, the architectural elements here were really designed to add to the granite and the mining history," Shaunna Johnson, Waite Park’s city administrator, said.
"What we hear is we need more entertainment venues, we need more of those places to draw people not only to live here and work here but also to play."
The city hopes to have 15 to 20 concerts per year in front of about 80,000 people, which will bring in around $10 million into the local economy.
