Young divers took to the water Saturday morning to clean up the bottom of Lake Phalen in the swim beach area.
It was the BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820’s 12th year in a row removing debris from the lake and shore. They partnered with the Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society for the event. Most divers reached depths up to 26 feet in Lake Phalen.
“Divers will find a lot of glass, pop cans, and other unusual items in the water that was thrown in the water or left on the ice, picnic tables, street signs, and other unusual items,” said Dean Soderbeck, the Advisor for BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820.
More than 30 youth and adult volunteers from the Twin Cities and Iowa participated in the cleanup.
