Victim of fatal Minneapolis shooting identified
Authorities have released the name of a man killed by gunfire early Thursday morning in Minneapolis.
According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, 38-year-old Chante Lamar Williams of St. Paul died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Williams was injured during a shooting shortly after midnight the morning of Thursday, July 28.
As previously reported by 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, officers were called to the area of 1st Avenue and 5th Street North shortly after 1:30 a.m. for a fight that had started in a business and then moved outside.
However, the fight then escalated to gunfire.
Two other men were injured in the shooting.
Williams’ death was the 50th homicide of the year.
