Driver fleeing Osseo police causes fatal crash

Authorities say Sunday at 7:20 a.m., a driver fled from Osseo police and headed south on County Road 81 at a high rate of speed into the city of Brooklyn Park.

Brooklyn Park police soon learned that the suspect vehicle had crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Brooklyn Boulevard and County Road 81 in their city.

The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle left the scene on foot, but a witness was able to give police enough information to locate the suspect and arrest him a short time later.

The Brooklyn Park Police Department is investigating the incident.
