Police said multiple people were shot around 11:20 a.m. Monday after a crowd gathered at Simple Traditions funeral home for the memorial of Casanova Carter, a 26-year-old who was shot earlier this month.

According to police, a total of four people were shot. Police identified them as Martinez; a man in his 20s who was shot in the abdomen, back and leg and is in critical condition; a man in his 30s who was shot in the neck; and a man in his 20s who had a bullet graze his face.

Police said the motive in the shooting was unclear but, late Monday, investigators told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they believe it was gang-related.

“I can tell you there were multiple shooters. There were bullets flying around, a very dangerous and scary situation,” said Steve Linders, a public information officer for the St. Paul Police Department. He didn’t rule out that the shooting was an exchange of gunfire.

As of this time, no one is in custody for the shooting.
