Work week off to a sloppy start with snow, rain mix
Depending where you live in the metro area, you could be seeing snow, rain, or a wintry mix to start your work week.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) 511 page listed multiple highways in the Twin Cities metro area as partially or completely covered Monday morning.
Precipitation is mainly affecting central Minnesota, with most roadways to the south of the Twin Cities area and north of Brainerd listed as having normal driving conditions.
Multiple crashes and spinouts were also reported, especially in the northern half of the metro area.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Weather Advisory for counties in northwest Wisconsin, but did not issue any sort of advisory, watch or warning for counties in the Twin Cities area. You can find a list of current advisories by CLICKING HERE.
Parts of Barron, Polk and Rusk counties could see anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow Monday, and snow is expected to last until the noon hour, saying it could cause hazardous driving conditions.
Chief Meteorologist Ken Barlow says a light mix of rain and snow will end shortly after noon in the Twin Cities area, and skies will then clear. He adds northern suburbs could see an inch of snow, while the metro area will see less than half an inch of snow mixed with rain. Although the week will start off wet and cold, temperatures will increase, and the area could see temperatures close to 60 by Wednesday.
