School bus driver arrested in fatal Brooklyn Park hit-and-run

A school bus driver, identified as Jason Rynders, was involved in a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian dead in Brooklyn Park Monday has been arrested.

Brooklyn Park Police said Tuesday that Rynders was located and arrested for criminal vehicular homicide. He remained in custody but had not been formally charged as of Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called to a spot near the intersection of Humboldt Avenue and Meadowwood Drive at about 6:49 a.m. Monday after a body was found on a street. After responding, police found a woman who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they don't believe the original vehicle that hit the woman stopped at the scene, and they asked for the public's help identifying a school bus that may have been involved.

The woman is expected to be identified by a medical examiner at a later time.
