St. Paul police investigating homicide at senior living apartment
The St. Paul Police Department opened a homicide investigation after conducting a welfare check in the Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood.
Officers arrived at a senior living apartment on the 700 block of East Seventh Street shortly before 7 p.m. Friday.
Police said they found a man in his late 50s dead with a gunshot wound.
Investigators initially thought the fatal injury may have been self-inflicted.
However, after forensics officers and the Ramsey County Medical examiner processed the scene, “it became clear that someone had shot the man.”
Police do not believe this is a random incident.
No arrests have been made.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy and identify the victim.
Members of the video management unit are looking for surveillance video to aid the investigation.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Saint Paul Police at 612-266-5650.
