Red Wing students in grades 7-12 will have a distance learning day Thursday due to a fire at the school Wednesday night.
According to the school district, crews will be cleaning up after a fire broke out in the lunchroom ceiling around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
District officials say the fire was out in about 30 minutes, and there was minimum damage.
As of this time, the cause of the fire is still unknown, but the superintendent said initial reports indicated the apparent cause was a lighting ballast.
The Red Wing Fire Department says no one was injured, and multiple agencies responded to the scene.
Crews were at the scene Wednesday for about 90 minutes.
